Book Club Hub: Resources for Book Clubs in Henderson County

Upcoming Book Club Meetings

Resources for Book Clubs

The resources below offer discussion questions and advice on how to set up a book club.

Book Club Kits

Etowah Library has teamed up with Etowah Book Club to start a collection of book club kits - bundles which include 10 copies of the same title in a canvas bag. While the kits call Etowah home, they can be sent to any Henderson County library location and checked out with a valid library card in good standing.

How it works
One book club member requests a title from the available list below and checks out the book kit, distributes the books to the other members and when finished, returns the book kit to any Henderson County Public Library location. Kits check out for six weeks and are non-renewable. To reserve a kit, contact the Etowah Library 891-6577.

Book club kits are made possible with funds provided by the Community Foundation of Henderson County through the Richard J. and Betty A. Scott Estate.

Want to recommend a title for a book club kit?
The best selections for book clubs inspire discussion, are books that some people loved while others did not, or books that people respectfully disagree about the substance or story told. The library can purchase up to 10 copies to be part of the Book Club Hub program at the Etowah Library based on the following:

  • Publication or release date within the last 2 years, but not more than 6 months in the future.
  • Professional reviews in one or more standard library review sources.
  • Available as a paperback.
  • Demand, relevance, and suitability articulated in the library's Materials Selection Policy.

Book club leaders can contact Daniel Hay at 828-697-4725 ext. 2314 or dhay@hendersoncountync.gov to suggest a title.
